Farm to Families
Phillies Bridge Farm Project is dedicated to providing a portion of our season’s harvest of fresh vegetables to food insecure households, working with our partner Ulster County agencies:
- Hudson River Health Care
- Ulster County Healthy Start
- Cornell Cooperative Extension/Expanded Food and Nutrition Program
- Institute for Family Health
Some participants receive their fresh produce in a nutrition program conducted by the partner agency; others receive fresh vegetables directly from PBFarm to the agency; and those families are invited to visit to the farm where they enjoy a day at Phillies Bridge Farm, harvest their own and our staff teaches them to cook fresh vegetables. For some individuals, our program provides the first chance to harvest a vegetable they had only seen in a can. Our Farm-to-Families program provides access to much needed, nutritious food while developing the interest and skills needed for making lifelong healthy habits a reality.
Funding for this program is provided by generous personal donors and support from individual businesses in the local business community. Watch for announcements of the Farm-to-Families Benefit Dinner and Auction.
