Home School – Little Homesteaders
Home School on the Farm – Spring 2017 Session!
Due to the hands on nature of this program we will have limited spaces available for the spring session.
Join us this May for a 6 week home school program on our vibrant community farm. This program will allow participants to learn the science behind both agriculture and forest biology. With learning themes ranging from soil science and wildlife ecology to no-till farming and the global carbon cycle; the program will introduce children to the basic scientific principles which govern both our forests and farm fields!
Immersion in both the farm and nature setting of Phillies Bridge allows participants to make meaningful connections and build upon their current knowledge base. The farm itself has a historical legacy which lends itself to the study of land and culture including the local heritage of the New Paltz region dating back to the inhabitance by the Lenape people.
Each day we will gather seasonal veggies from the farm fields and prepare a snack together. Each child will also keep a Nature Journal to chronicle their time and experiences while on the farm.
