Farming Practices

Although we are not certified organic, we are committed to using organic growing methods!  We are committed to continuously improving the long term sustainability of the farm and surrounding ecosystem. We use cultural methods such as reduced tillage, cover cropping, composting, insect netting, protected growing, crop rotation, mulching, tarping, and selection of disease-resistant plant varieties.

We aim to cultivate healthy soil and plants, while reducing reliance on chemicals and petroleum products. When we do need to use chemical aids to control a particularly tenacious pest or disease, we always use OMRI-approved organic sprays extracted from natural materials. If you would like to know more about our growing practices, please email our Farm Director at farm@philliesbridge.org.
