Farming Practices

Although we are not certified organic, we are committed to using organic growing methods and continuing to work towards the long term sustainability of the farm. We prioritize using cultural methods such as reduced tillage, cover cropping, composting, insect netting, protected growing, crop rotation, mulching, tarping and selection of disease-resistant plant varieties to create healthy soils and plants and reduce reliance on chemicals. If we do need to use chemical aids to control a particularly tenacious pest or disease, we always use OMRI-approved organic sprays extracted from natural materials. If you would like to know more about our growing practices, please e-mail our Farm Manager at heather@philliesbridge.org.
