Bread share: Tuesday Pickup Only

Country Sourdough Bread Share

Our Country Sourdough is always naturally leavened and long-fermented, and made with a minimum of 30% regionally-grown wheat. This rustic bread keeps for a week if you slice as you need it, and put the “cut side” facing down on a cutting board or in a bread box, or freeze for later use. The first couple of days can be enjoyed fresh. The next couple of days we recommend toasting. In the off-chance there is anything left by the end of the week — you will fall in love with easy-to-make breadcrumbs and croutons. In the event you cannot pick up your order: Please send a family member, friend or neighbor to pick up your freshly baked bread! Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds or credits for forgotten or missed pickups. But do not fear! Unclaimed orders will be graciously donated to the farm staff or shared with the community.

ABOUT GARDINER BAKEHOUSE:

All of our breads and pastries are hand-crafted daily and baked on-site at Gardiner Bakehouse. The traditional long-fermentation process of mixing, resting, folding, proofing, shaping, retarding, scoring and baking can take up to 30 hours from beginning-to-end. We take no shortcuts, so we can provide you with the most flavorful and beautiful loaves! Our ingredient and vendor selection reflects our deep commitment to supporting local agriculture and farmers who use organic and regenerative agricultural practices. We are active learners and contributors in the greater baking community and are committed to rebuilding the grain economy in the Hudson Valley and the Northeast. When subscribers commit to purchasing baked goods on a regular basis, they receive discounted pricing, while helping to create a secure and predictable market for the bakehouse and minimize food waste and lost revenue from products that might otherwise go unsold. This, in turn, allows us to create strong partnerships with local farmers that foster a more sustainable food system. By subscribing to our Community Supported Bakery, you are not only indulging in delicious baked goods, but your commitment makes you an integral part of reviving the traditions behind baking fresh bread, and the restoration of grain production in the Hudson Valley.

Egg share:

23 weeks of eggs from Old Ford Farm, just down the road from Phillies Bridge. The hens are pasture raised and fed certified organic grain. Click here for more information on Old Ford’s growing practices.

  • $175 for 23 weeks

Fruit share:

18-20 weeks of locally grown fruit. The fruit share typically consists of strawberries, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, pears, apples, and sometimes other fruit. Everything is season dependent.

  • $145 for 18-20 weeks
  • Most of the fruit comes from Nightingale Farm in Marlboro, NY.

From Dan: “At Glorie Farms, and like most (if not all) New York orchards and vineyards, we do use crop protectants which includes pest and fungal control measures. We strictly follow the Cornell recommendations and only use the most minimal amount of protectants. Specifics of what is applied depends on the year and the season. The farm is also scouted on a regular basis to assess the need. If no need for protectants, none are applied. For added comfort, the previous owners have lived (and continue to) on the farm right next to the orchard and vineyard since it became a functioning farm in 1979.

That being said, we are in a frost aversion site on an east facing mountain between 600-800′ elevation that gets sun immediately upon sunrise. This helps prevent the need for certain measures that might be needed at a farm in a different geographic location.

Please feel free to reach Dan directly at 860-921-7192 if you have any questions.”
